Historic Inn
Our home was built by Lt. Colonel Samuel John Safford in 1774 and believed to be the oldest in the village. in 1762 Joseph Safford, father of Samuel Safford, formed a partnership with Samuel Robinson to build the first sawmill in East Bennington. Later they built a gristmill. Both were at the corner of Main and Beech Streets, across from the Safford house, where there was a good water power site.
We hope to share the warmth and joy of our home and family with you. This is a house rich with history and tradition. Now, it becomes a haven for life's travelers. We look forward to meeting you and extending that fine tradition of New England hospitality.
Reservations are strongly suggested, especially during Summer and Fall Foliage months.
